On Friday the 8th, Saturday the 9th and Sunday the 10th of December I go west, like the Pet Shop Boys but more homely. The traveling version of MeriTomasa's Treasures Factory stops and finds in Tàrrega, the capital of Urgell, a city of fairs and markets. And I have chosen a very special one: the 19th Fair of Artists and Traditional Activities, in the Espai Fassina, Espai MerCAT and the Plaça de les Nacions sense Estat.
It is my first time at the fair and I look forward to it. A market brimming with artisans of a lifetime. Artisans who have a broken hand to fight with the tools of the forge, design, textile or jewelry. My fair-haired friends have explained wonders to me. On the city's website they present it like this:
Great showcase of art, design and crafts in the Lleida regions, with more than a hundred exhibitors. The Regidoria de Promoció Econòmica bets on this commercial claim at the gates of Christmas. Tàrrega thus offers the public a point where to shop with originality, a meeting of multidisciplinary art: painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, design, jewelry, photography, forging, interior design, crafts and textile products constitute the wide offer. There is no lack of artisan food. Attendees also have the opportunity to participate in craft workshops. The program is completed with poetry and song recitals, games for children and local gastronomy.
Go West! On Friday the 8th, Saturday the 9th and Sunday the 10th I am waiting for you in Tàrrega, the eastern capital of the lands of Ponent.
Are you coming?
