This time the commission was a scale reproduction, in sterling silver, of the Christ the Redeemer of Rio de Janeiro, nothing more and nothing less than 36 mm from end to end< /strong>. Hanging from a strong chain and formed by nails.

It is one of my treasures that has made a fortune: after publishing the version for Albert I have made several more reproductions: for Ovidio, for Yolanda...

Important: the chain of nails honors the name of the Christ of Corcovado: it is a redemptive chain. By that I mean that the chain of nails is a delicate chain and that you have to take care of it. Christ the Redeemer or Christ of Corcovado is an art deco statue of Jesus of Nazareth, with open arms, showing in the city of Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil. The statue stands 30 meters tall on an 8 meter pedestal, weighs 1,200 tons, and is made of soapstone and concrete. It represents the faith and compassion of the Cariocas and is the largest Art Deco sculpture in the world. In July 2007 it was chosen as one of the seven wonders of the modern world by the Swiss company New 7 Wonders Foundation.

It is located on top of Mount Corcovado, in the Tijuca National Park, 710 meters above sea level. One of the two arms is shorter than the other so that it can withstand winds of up to 150 km/h. It can be reached on foot by climbing 220 steps or by car, train, elevator or escalator. The interior is empty and allows you to move through 12 floors to perform maintenance.

The original idea of ​​building a monument on top of Corcovado came from the priest Pierre-Marie Boss, in 1859, to pay homage to Princess Isabel of Brazil. The proposal did not prosper, but in 1920 the Catholic Circle of Rio de Janeiro recovered the idea to commemorate the first centenary of the independence of Brazil. In 1921 a contest was organized where the artistic proposal of Carlos Oswall and the engineer Heitor da Silva Costa were chosen to develop the project. The statue was inaugurated in 1931, after 5 years of construction in France and its subsequent transfer to Brazil.

Christ the Redeemer or Christ of Corcovado is a representation of the risen Christ, since he is shown with open arms in the form of a cross and crucifixion wounds on his hands. He also wears a small crown of thorns. The heart of Jesus is also displayed on the chest and it is believed that a small glass container containing a scroll with the family trees of the master builder Hector Levy and the engineer Pedro Fernandes was kept inside.
