You design your wedding rings: I am your jeweler's hands

If you could make your wedding rings yourself... how would you do them? Forget about the technique: just imagine that you can design and make your wedding rings as if they were made of plasticine, or as if you only had to draw them on a sheet of paper and turn them into metal just by closing your eyes.

That's what Judith and Jose did. She posed the challenge to me like this in her first email:

We chose the theme of the compass rose because we met while playing role-playing and both of our characters were pirates. So we choose that element to represent that fact. In his half alliance there are olive leaves like the good Andalusian that he is, the shape symbolizes a 20 role dice and he stays with the North because it is where he came to live. I stick with the South, which is where he is from, and I decided to draw cherry blossom petals (Sakura in Japanese) because I feel that for me it is a flower that represents me. So there you have a little of us!

The difficulty was that the drawing had a lot of detail. Too much for a 3D print because the lines have to be thicker. So I tested it with laser engraving: the first two tests went wrong, but the third time is always the charm :-)
